At the CTC Annual Awards Banquet, nominees from central Ohio high schools are honored as their schools' outstanding senior science student. A Science Student of the Year and two runners-up are named from the nominees on the basis of a comprehensive report on a specific science program or activity. Both the student winners and their schools are presented with cash awards and engraved plaques. In addition, several of the individual Societies present awards such as cash, calculators, plaques and certificates for projects or papers that relate to the Societies' activities. Those Societies giving awards include ACS, ASM, ASQC, AWISCO, IEEE, and ISA.

Nominations for the High School Science Student of the Year should be received by March 27, 2009.
