| . For several years, the Columbus Technical Council has made monetary grants available to middle school mathematics, science and technology education teachers for hands-on student projects. These grants support materials for projects that would not normally be available to the teachers from their school budgets. The objective of these grants is to provide a wider experience to the students in mathematics, science and technology education than might otherwise be possible. To be considered for a grant up to a maximum of $100, use the application to describe your extra school project. Hands-on activities aligned with the National Standards for Mathematics, Science and Technology will be given the highest priority. Be sure to describe the anticipated knowledge gained by the students who will participate in the project. From the applications submitted, the CTC will judge which projects best meet the program's objectives and will be supported. A maximum of one award per school will be granted. The award is given in memory of Ellis Foster, Jr., the CTC treasurer who devoted much of his life in the spirit of helping young people achieve their goals. The funds have been made available from local businesses including American Electric Power, Ashland Chemical, Battelle, Chemical Abstracts, Honda, OCLC, and Tech Resources. Your interest in the program is invited. Please print and complete the application and submit it before December 10, 2008 to Mark Farrell, 599 Teteridge Rd., Columbus, OH 43214. Thank you for your efforts in working with our young people. |
